Tasks & Time
Tasks are the unit of "things to do" in Duka. They can be as simple as a title, or as detailed as a scheduled block of time with subtasks, tags, and attachments.
Creating a task
From Home, Tasks, or Calendar, hit New Task and fill in what matters:
- Title — required, everything else is optional.
- Date / time / duration — schedules it on the Calendar timeline. Leave blank for an unscheduled to-do.
- Function tag — categorizes the work (Engineering, Sales, etc.) for Work Analytics.
- Tags — any other labels for cross-workspace filtering.
- Visibility — private or shared.
- Attachments — files relevant to the task.
- Subtasks — break a task into smaller parent/child steps.
Work Bucket & Dock
The Work Bucket is a floating dock that follows you around the app (visible on Home and Calendar). It's where you actually work a task:
- Start a task to begin timing it — a countdown/timer badge appears in the dock.
- Pause if you're interrupted; resume later without losing the accumulated time.
- Complete to mark it done and stop the timer in one action.
- Remove to take it out of the active dock without deleting the task itself.
Time logged this way becomes a work session, which is what Work Analytics is built from.
Recurring templates
For work that repeats — a weekly report, a daily check, a monthly review — create a task template instead of a one-off task. Templates generate new task instances automatically on a daily, weekly, or monthly cadence, so you don't recreate the same task by hand every cycle. Manage templates from your Library.
Grouping with tags
When several tasks belong together (e.g. steps of a single project), give them a shared tag. On Home, tasks are clustered under a separator for each tag they carry, so related work reads as one unit — without forcing you to build a full project-management hierarchy. A task with more than one tag appears under each of its tags; untagged tasks stay in the loose list.
If you find yourself creating the same task by hand every week, that's a strong signal to turn it into a template instead.
